AYER, Oscar - 1911 - Putnam

Oscar W. Ayer, 61 years of age, of Posey Township died at 12:15 o'clock this afternoon of heart failure after a severe illness of several days.  Oscar W. Ayer is a native of Hamilton County, Ohio born Dec 9, 1849. In 1852 Oscar came to Clay County with his parents settling on a farm where he lived until death, developing a fine farm from the Virgin wilderness.

Oscar, at the age of 20 entered Asbury College, later DePauw University at Greencastle and completed a scientific course in 1874. On leaving college he went to the farm where he remained. - Brazil Times
